About Noise Solution

Noise Solution wants to contribute to a world where everyone means something, and they know it.

They are a multi-award-winning social enterprise, delivering evidence-based digital music mentoring to youth at risk across the East of England. They pair young people with non-formal, professional musicians. Together, the young person and musician co-create a music project in the young person's chosen genre(s).

During each session, moments of success are captured using audio, video, photos, and text. These are posted on Noise Solution's own secure digital storytelling platform, into which the young person invites people who are important to them. After every session, the young person usually records a short, conversational reflection video with their musician, which is also posted to their digital story.

These reflection videos are full of qualitative impact data; until recently, the organization had no way to analyse this data. They have built a prototype model which:

  • Transcribes the audio from these videos;

  • Masks any sensitive data;

  • Analyses the transcripts for concepts important to their theory of change; and

  • Returns quantitative scale data, along with qualitative highlights to bring these numbers to life.
