About the event

Ever build a dashboard packed with beautiful, perfectly interactive visualizations, only to realize it doesn't actually deliver a clear takeaway?

Using a personal example, I break down three things that separate dataviz that delivers insight from dataviz that just displays data: knowing your audience, building a narrative arc around your key insight, and applying design principles that boost readability and engagement.

Whether you're polishing your first dashboard or your fiftieth, you'll walk away with practical ways to make your visuals as functional as they are beautiful.

About the Speaker:

Gena Falzon is an award-winning information designer who combines storytelling and technical precision to make data accessible and engaging.

With a focus on dataviz for social impact, she likes the puzzle of turning something hard to talk about into something impossible to ignore. Gena holds an MPS in Data Analytics and Visualization from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).
