Women in Communications and Technology Canada

Mission: to advance women in the digitally driven workplace

Vision: to help companies in Canada achieve gender parity and help the women within them flourish in their careers.

Values: Growth, Excellence, Impact, Community

For Canadian organizations working to close their leadership gap, Women in Communications & Technology (WCT)  is the only national organization that builds their leadership pipeline through proven accelerators, mentorship and a 3,500+ member community no employer can replicate in-house.

WCT’s impact is reflected in a 90%+ member recommendation rate, 100% mentor satisfaction, an employer satisfaction rating of 4.2/5, and 81% of Career Accelerator participants reporting career advancement as a result of WCT programs.

Our offering  includes:

  • Online Community Membership: : A digital hub connecting 3,500+ members, where all WCT programs, webinars, and virtual events take place, creating opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.

  • Career Accelerators: Co-hort based leadership development programs tailored to 4 key career stages

  • Pods Mentoring Program: WCT signature 6-week structured group mentoring program pairing 1 mentor with up to 5 mentees

  • Regional chapters: Volunteer-managed regional chapters in 7 locations across Canada (London, Ottawa, Waterloo, GTA, AB and BC,MB) offering in person networking and learning opportunities.

  • Employer Programs & Resources: Practical resources and initiatives to help employers strengthen talent retention and evolve workplace cultures, including communities of practice, allyship and sponsorship supports, and research, reports and industry insight

  • Annual Leadership Excellence Awards & Gala:  An annual awards program celebrating and recognizing the outstanding achievements, leadership and contributions of women across Canada’s ICT and digital sectors.

  • Job Board and talent network: Connecting employers with a network of qualified women talent, providing access to potential candidates and emerging talent before positions are even posted.

Theory of Change:

WCT’s evaluation approach is grounded in the understanding that when women have access to leadership development, mentorship, sponsorship, and professional networks and employers are supported in creating more inclusive workplaces, then women are better positioned to advance and employers are better equipped to develop and retain women’s talent. This informs the selection of indicators and the monitoring of progress toward intended outcomes of each program offered by WCT.

Key Goals for This Project

We want to  strengthen how WCT captures, measures and communicates its impact through evidence-based Storytelling that demonstrates our theory of change in action.

The first story captures the experience, outcomes and career progression of the WCT participant. The second story captures the experiences and organizational outcomes of the employers who engage with WCT. Together the two perspectives contribute to an overall story of systems change and moving the needle on leadership advancements for women in Information Communications and Technology.

We would like to share the results of this project at our Annual Leadership Excellence Awards Gala on April 20, 2027, and through other channels, e.g. LinkedIn, partner impact reports.
